The 700th Standard
Bold, beautifully structured, and unapologetically ours. It tastes like the Niagara meeting a cool breeze off the Pacific.
This Labour Day, we aren’t just celebrating the hard work that built our communities from coast to coast to coast—we are celebrating the core values that bind us together: collaboration, inclusivity, perseverance, and a deep-seated respect for one another. Across Canada, our strength has always been rooted in our ability to stand shoulder-to-shoulder, honouring our diverse backgrounds while striving toward a shared horizon of optimism and community wellbeing.
The 700th Standard is a toast to that exact spirit. It is meticulously crafted using ingredients harvested from the distinct landscapes of our great country, representing a true coast-to-coast synergy.
- Ingredients:
- 45 ml (1.5 oz) British Columbia artisanal gin (look for Ungava or Victoria Distillers).
- 30 ml (1 oz) Niagara icewine (Vidal or Riesling works brilliantly).
- 2 dashes local cranberry bitters (like Dillon’s from Ontario).
How to make it:
Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with plenty of pure Canadian ice. Stir gently for about thirty seconds—don’t rush it, because good things take a little patience and care, much like the communities we nurture every day. Strain gracefully into a chilled coupe glass.
It’s tart, deeply complex, and tastes like a victory on a crisp autumn evening shared with good neighbours.
Pour yourself a glass, take a moment to appreciate the view, and let’s raise a standard of positivity, unity, and shared success across the True North strong and free. 🇨🇦
